The Brother of Jared — An Excerpt

The following is an excerpt from an upcoming book - from the author - titled, “The Miracle of Jesus.”

The brother of Jared went on to see marvelous visions and experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the Lord, and to see Him as He truly is.

This is experience is rather difficult to describe or imagine because there are very few accounts, and it’s an experience very few will ever have while on Earth, however, that doesn’t lessen the experiences we have that draw closer to Jesus or His goodness.

What the brother of Jared experienced is amazing, but so are the spiritual experiences you have with the Savior.

One of the greatest lessons we learn from the brother of Jared’s experience is to not give up and to find another way. There is always another solution.

We also learn of God’s willingness to forgive and the mercy He extends towards His children.

Do you remember how the Jaredites commended themselves to the Lord?

Once the stones were in the vessels and they were ready to set sail, the Jaredites “commend[ed] themselves unto the Lord their God (Ether 6:4).”

It was all they could do. After they done all they possibly could, it was up to the Lord — “and it came to pass that they Lord God caused that there should be a furious wind blown upon the face of the waters towards the promised land (Ether 6:5).”

“Bring the stones,” God says, “and I’ll provide the light and the winds to carry you to the promise land.”

The brother of Jared needed to find a solution, and when he did, God provided the light and the wind to carry him and his family.

Does He not do the same for you and me?

There is nothing sweeter than knowing God will not only make up the difference, but that He is the difference.

When performing His first miracle, Christ was asked by his beloved mother, Mary, for help while at a wedding feast.

The best wine had already been consumed, and yet the party was hardly over.

Christ observed His mother’s request, and had the servants fill water pots with water.

They brought Him water, and He gave them wine.

The brother of Jared brought Him rocks, and He made them shine.

He can turn water into wine and He can certainly make rocks shine in the darkness.

What stones can you bring to the Savior?

What stones or water pots - from your own life - can you place upon the alter in exchange for the help you need?

As you do, remember the brother of Jared.

All he asked was for the Lord to illuminate the rocks so they could see, and in return, he was blessed to see more than he could ever imagine.

In short, he asked for a piece of bread, and in return, God gave him a loaf.

This is the miracle of Jesus.
